Niko
Nicola “Niko” Congiu was born in Sardinia and has a three-octave range-easily handling current pop, rock and soul, as well as contemporary classical music. He is the composer and lyricist for many of the songs he performs, singing lyrics in both English and Italian. Niko also plays guitar and piano on his most recent selfproduced record “Per Te” (2007). This gifted baritone has developed a tremendous fan base that travels throughout Italy to see him play to SRO crowds night after night. He also built his reputation participating in nationally televised singing competitions such as “Sanremo” and “Castrocaro.”
Nicola Congiu made his North American debut October 20th, 2007 with the 100-piece Chicago Pops Orchestra, opening for Jewel to a sold-out Rosemont Theatre in Chicago. Private appearances in New York at Ivana Trump’s Engagement Party, an invited audience at the Leo Burnett Agency in Chicago, and 2-mesmerizing showcases in Beverly Hills, California rounded out his first visit to North America. Niko’s U.S. debut caught the attention of Gibson USA, who signed him to an endorsement deal.
Nicola Congiu On February 14th, 2008, Niko opened for Celine Dion on the eve of her 2008 “Taking Chances” World Tour at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa. On April 28th, 2008, Niko will play Carnegie Hall for the first time at the 25th Birthday Gala of the NY Pops honoring The New York Yankees, James M. Nederlander and James L. Nederlander hosted by Liz Smith and Dennis Leary.
