About us
IMC is one of the international music industry’s premier boutique talent companies. Founded in 2000 there are divisions handling artist representation as well as producing concert tours and special events. IMC prides itself on its diverse and eclectic talent roster spanning through the worlds of music, theatre and television ~ including acts such as Notre Dame de Paris, The Corrs, Deborah Cox, Josh Groban, and Carole King. The company was formed by impresario Barry Garber - one of Canada's most established manager/ agent/producer/promoters, participating in the careers of some of the biggest and most diverse names in Canadian musical history such as Celine Dion, Corey Hart, Andre-Philippe Gagnon, Sass Jordan, Roch Voisine and Sonia Benezra just to name a few.
For nearly two decades, Barry Garber has devoted his life and career to the development and representation of world class talent and has redefined the notion that it is definitely possible for individuals to make the difference.
Garber started off his career in legitimate theatre and spent his formative years working alongside legendary Montreal impresario Sam Gesser, marking an awakening to what was to become a life's passion. He then moved to work for promoter extraordinaire Donald K. Donald where he quickly became Vice- President and alongside DKD head Donald Tarlton created one of the most successful talent representation agencies in Canada: Spectacle Entertainment.
In response to the globalization of Celine Dion's popularity, Garber subsequently departed the Spectacle Agency with his # 1 client and founded CDA productions with Dion's manager Rene Angelil. At the helm of CDA, Garber was both the agent and world tour producer for Celine Dion.
Garber's energies expanded yet again as he entered the realm of TV production - highlights as producer include his acclaimed television specials with Backstreet Boys, Tori Amos and several Celine Dion television extravaganzas around the world ~ not to mention countless television specials with management client Sonia Benezra with such illustrious names as Ricky Martin, Santana and Tina Turner.
IMC has produced concert tours on every continent with the exception of Antarctica!
Most recently Garber was Talent Producer of the first United Against Aids (UNICEF) concert in Canada with a line up including Sarah Mclachlan, Avril Lavigne and John Mayer.
In this business, one must anticipate trends and truly love the art form. IMC is rooted in the inspiration and discovery of talent and the progressive evolution of setting new standards in the management and agency realm. Theater has always been Garber’s mainstay and throughout the years he has developed and worked with such illustrious creators as Gratien Gelinas, Don Harron, Monique Leyrac, Luc Plamondon, Notre Dame de Paris, Chicago, Fuego and most recently Earth Wind and Fire.
IMC is a proud member of the Canadian Management Alliance and CARAS, and its president has been the recipient of two Felix awards (ADISQ) for Tour Producer of the Year. Barry Garber is also a board member of the Farha Foundation, Friends of Mopo in South Africa and actively involved in UNICEF and World Vision Canada.
